![]() The one thing I noticed was your temperature data doesn't seem to match Ottawa, Ontario (Lat 45.4 deg N). I appreciate your work at implementing this project. Of course, that was on an Apple IIE and of course thus won't run (even if I had a copy on a disk. When I was in HS back in the mid 1980s, My grade 12 project was implementing the weather from DragonMagazine #58. Update: I fixed a problem with Celsius temperatures (they didn't work properly for years with more or fewer than 12 months) and I changed the labels on the editable temps in the Climates tab to make more sense ("Hot summer/Hot winter" vs. Make your own copy and have fun! Feedback welcome! ![]() ![]() Stick to editing the stuff highlighted in yellow and you'll be fine. Anything generated by a formula is grayed out (except for the entire Year of Weather tab, which is all generated). If you want to tweak the temperatures and precipitation further, there are settings for the precipitation feature (fog/hail/lightning) on the Settings tab, and you can tweak the high/low temperatures for each climate on the Climates tab.I just couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Speaking of acceptable flaws, there's a weird #N/A row that shows up at the end of the Year of Weather. The randomization of the highs and lows makes it a pretty smooth transition (unless your months are very short). Edit: I adjusted it so the last 1/3 of each month inches toward the temperature of the next month. After all the other math and conditionals I've put into this thing, I considered it an acceptable flaw. This leads to some abrupt shifts from the end of one month to the beginning of the next if a cooler-than-average month is next to a warmer-than-average one. The day to day temperatures are randomized from an average temperature chosen for each month. If you want southern hemisphere output, just list the months starting in the middle. It assumes northern hemisphere: winter at the beginning/end of year and summer in the middle.Storms can have lightning, hail, or both moderate rain can have hail light rain/mist can produce fog.If the average temp in a day is below freezing, precipitation will be snow instead of rain. ![]() Specify the climate and latitude to alter the temperatures and precipitation chance. It will accommodate up to 24 months and 1000 days. Specify the number of months, the names of the months, and the number of days per month.Small trees sway and small waves form on inland waters Wind felt on face, leaves rustle, vanes move It uses most of the rules as presented in that weather system, with some slight tweaks. About 24 hours of work later, I have something ready to share. I checked it out, and couldn't resist making a generator after seeing all that math. Someone on one of the D&D subs recently asked about weather systems and calendars, and a commenter mentioned a weather system outlined in Dragon Magazine #137. TL DR: I've created a spreadsheet to easily generate a year's worth of weather! Specify your own months (name, number, and length), choose a climate, specify a latitude, and choose ☏/☌.
